Long Play Lounge

Austin, TX

The exterior sign looked promising. I popped in and quickly found out that the Long Play Lounge was neither a dive nor a historical spot. However, this little Highland bar had a good vibe and a nice smell. There's a second location on the East Side in the former Stay Gold space, but this one is quite small and much cozier.

Sometimes you have a day so bad, only time, alcohol, and Smiths records can turn things around. In those cases, The Long Play can probably help you out. They have more than 400 records stashed here. You can hang out here at the bar and bury the remaining traces of your sobriety to a soundtrack. Or, bring a hot date and partake in a plane-going-down makeout session in a dark corner. Either way. Feel good now. Later, you'll be dead.
